Our History

General Pump & Equipment, Inc. was founded July 1969 in Canton, Ohio by Dave Lapp. When Dave began this business over 50 years ago, his goal was to create the best product in the industry. It all began in his uncle's plumbing shop with only one unit, Model 250 PSI (shown above, now named Model 6334), which was an electric hydro-tester. He worked hard and took the time to get to know his customers and their needs to develop top of the line hydro testing equipment. But he didn't do this alone, Dave built a team of innovators, builders, and staff and eventually expanded the product line with units ranging from 350 PSI up to 10,000 PSI in electric, gasoline, and air powered options.

Our Future

In February of 2020, Dave decided to retire and handed the reins over to new owner, Derek Brown.  Derek has continued Dave's legacy of innovating new and improved products - one of which is a new, lighter, and easier to use pull cart for the popular 6334 Series units. Derek and the team are excited to continue to build upon Dave's vision and provide the highest quality products and services for our customers.
